We hope you read our blog about Eamon and his ICOM friends, who raised and donated over $5,000 to our Days for Girls SW Boise team. One of their requests was for us to use part of the donation to aid "impoverished" communities in need.
When the government shutdown occurred, it was absolutely the right time to make donations and help those in our community that were suffering. And that's what we did.
We contributed approximately $500 in period products to each of these organizations:
Poder of Idaho, who organizes and empowers immigrant and Latine communities through advocacy. Especially after the ICE raid in Wilder, we thought this organization was especially important to donate to.
Faces of Hope, who provides a safe facility for those in need of immediate medical, legal, educational, and social services.
The Boise Rescue Mission, a nonprofit committed to meeting the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of homeless and addicted individuals.
St. Vincent de Paul, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing homelessness.
The Boise Rescue Mission and St. Vincent de Paul were organizations suggested to us by the Idaho Food Bank as serving many needs during the shutdown -- especially with food pantries and outreach to our service members.
We were also able to donate period products to the Boise National Guard and Gowen AFB Pantry.
Thank you, Eamon and ICOM friends, for your generosity and kindness. During an especially difficult time for our country and community, you gave HOPE.
