Both the Idaho Period Project and the Days for Girls SW Boise Chapter are working together to raise money to purchase period product caddies/containers and/or free-vend dispensers for every middle and high school in the State of Idaho. Although we would love to include grade schools because girls are starting their periods so much younger, we do not have the bandwidth at this time.
We are speaking to Rotary clubs, asking to speak at State Superintendent and State Counselor conferences, and will have a booth at the Idaho State PTA Convention on April 12. Our biggest hope is that we will meet a donor through a philanthropic foundation that can help us fund this project. But until then, we will continue speaking to any group that is interested.
We were recently inspired by a group of women called the 100 Women Charitable Foundation. What if 100 women in our circles donated $100 each? Or whatever amount you could? That would be HUGE toward attaining our goal. You can help by DONATING to our joint fundraiser via Give Butter. Simply scan the QR code and your donation will help us begin to build that fund to further our work of putting FREE period products IN girls' bathrooms all across the State of Idaho. Then we can resubmit a bill to the State legislature asking them to fund the period products ONLY each year to keep our girls IN class and IN school.
Until we reach that goal, we will continue contacting schools and implementing our pilot programs for FREE period products IN girls' bathrooms. To date both of our organizations are in 87 schools and 234 bathrooms statewide. Our SW Boise DfG team has already lined up SIX more schools in Northern Idaho that we will implement in August and are working on expanding into more southwestern Idaho schools in that same timeframe. ONE SCHOOL AT A TIME!
