Our Days for Girls team was just starting the pilot programs to put period products IN girls’ bathrooms. Now we are in 25 schools and 79 bathrooms across the State – and counting.
We did not know that we would soon be partnering with the Idaho Period Project to support Statewide legislation to put period products IN girls’ 6th through 12th grade bathrooms.
We had not met Avrey or Brooke nor realized that soon we would be standing alongside them in a Statehouse hearing room, testifying of the need for this legislation.
We did not realize that the power of this movement would enable us to introduce this website to share the power of ALL girls and women across the State of Idaho.
We did not realize that our collective power would help partner us with national organizations such as Period.org and PeriodLaw to move legislation forward.
We had no idea our Chapter’s advocacy would lead us to donate DfG Kits to Idaho refugee and homeless populations, university food pantries and community schools.
We never dreamed that a few phone calls would lead us to powerful women leaders at United Way plus pave the way to work with Women United to support local community schools.
The amazing leaders we would meet along this journey? Priceless.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
