The count – 31 schools and 97 girls’ bathrooms in Idaho now
have free period products. This does not even count all the Go Aunt Flow free-vend dispensers that are in almost every middle and high school in southeast and southcentral Idaho that the Idaho Period Project has already installed.
Our approaches might be different but our goal is the same – keep girls in school! Normalize what is natural! Stop the stigma of menstruation!
Our newest schools are northwest of Boise – Marsing, Homedale, Wilder, Notus and Parma. Free period products are now in 17 bathrooms in these rural communities. Plus our Days for Girls SW Boise Chapter donated hybrid Days for Girls Kits and Period Packs to the Community Schools that are associated with these schools.
Wait – what about Weiser and Emmett and Payette and the rest of the small schools that dot these farming communities? We’re working on it! And once the weather calms down, we still have even more schools to target in the Magic Valley before end of the school year.
How can you help? We always need more donations of feminine hygiene products – all kinds! But mostly more menstrual pads for heavier flows and the “regular” pads. Plus tampons are always needed as they are expensive and more and more girls in junior high and high school use tampons.
We are building momentum to support the menstrual health of our students. If you want to help, please donate to either the Idaho Period Project or our SW Boise Days for Girls Chapter on this website under DONATE. All donations will be to further the cause of providing FREE period products IN girls’ bathrooms to keep our girls IN class and IN school!
