Idaho has a tampon tax or “pink tax” as it is sometimes known. States with proposed 2023 legislation related to the period tax this year include Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and West Virginia.
Since the mid 1990’s, the pink tax has imposed an economic burden on women – especially when women continue to earn less than men. Even the United Nations has called on countries to abolish this tax to make sure that women have access to full economic participation.
Talk to your Idaho legislative representatives. If Texas can do it, Idaho certainly can too!
