The Idaho Period Project puts together Period Packs of menstrual products for girls to take home during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks plus a larger supply for the summer months. What a great idea! As they say on their website, “Period products aren’t a luxury. They are a BASIC NECESSITY”. With Period Packs, girls have the peace of mind to be able to manage their period – even when on a school break.
Since we are planning to join forces and conduct our pilot programs for free menstrual products IN the girls’ bathrooms across the State, it makes sense for both organizations to offer Period Packs. And that is what we are going to do!
The Nampa Days for Girls team has offered to spearhead this project locally with the many service projects they conduct. Our SW Boise team will help provide period products, gallon Ziploc bags, and the discreet, colorful merchandise bags full of menstrual products to send home with the girls who need them. When we meet with counselors and nurses to implement the pilot programs for free products in the bathrooms, we will also offer Period Packs.
